About 4 months ago I get a call from my uncle telling me the reasons why I will be stuck with his son for a little over 2 years. I am fine with it as long as my little cousin is okay with it too… So anyways after this I had a meeting with my councilor at college, I didn’t mention the situation I am in, but was doing the “worksheet” for FAFSA when the dependent or independent part came up. I am 19 (about to be 20 in oct.) live alone (now with a 9 year old kid), work and go to school. He will be a “dependents (other than your children or spouse) who live with you and who receive more than half of their support from you now and through June 30, 2010” right? But will I need to claim him in my 2008 taxes which I have already done… without him. And I am pretty sure my uncle claimed him… I’m not sure… and will this help me or should I just keep this to myself? I’m new at this whole fafsa deal. I am too young for this xP help from experienced would be great but if you know that’s useful too!!! Help please!!! Thanks!
