Websites like MapQuest and Google Maps have transformed the way we think about maps. But these services do more than offer driving directions—they provide APIs that web developers can use to build highly customized map-based applications. In Map Scripting 101 , author Adam DuVander delivers 73 immediately useful scripts that will show you how to create interactive maps and mashups. You’ll build tools like a local concert tracker, a real-time weather map, a Twitter friend-finder, an annotated map of Central Park, and much more. And because the book is based on the cross-platform Mapstraction JavaScript library, everything you create will be able to use nearly any mapping service, including OpenStreetMap, MapQuest, Google, Yahoo!, and Bing. You’ll also learn how to: Create, embed, and manipulate basic maps by setting zoom levels and map boundaries Show, hide, and filter location markers and info-bubbles Customize your maps for visitors based on their location Use common data formats like GPS XML, Google Earth’s KML, and GeoRSS Create graphical overlays on maps to better analyze data and trends Use freely available geodata from websites like Yelp and Upcoming—and public domain geodata from the US government Map Scripting 101 is perfect for any web developer getting started with map scripting, whether you want to track earthquakes around the world, or just mark the best coffee shops in Dubuque. If you work in a noisy environment which happens to be 87 decibels. How long does your ears get before the noise starts to do damage to them. And also what happens if you smoke for example and the time limit for 87 decibles is 2 hours and you have a fag for say 5 mins every hour. Does that mean your ears will be safe? cheers

a bit plucked at random that i kind of like. i dont study this or do this for a living its just a hobby so don’t get your hopes up much lol highly critical feedback most welcome =) Zak walked around to the passenger side, running his hand along the hood and admiring the smart little roadster as he went. Looks like he’d be getting to Leno in style instead of turning up pushing a useless sack of bolts riddled with bullets and claw marks. Hopping in, the whiff of cigarette smoke and very old leather smacked his senses like a glass of water to the face. ‘Sorry about the smell,’ the man apologised, ‘My dog smokes in here. The least he could do is hang his head out the window while he does it.’ ‘Erm …’ The heady smells in the car certainly were unusual to say the least, they made Zak’s head throb. Many of them were coming from a tall brown bottle that stood between them in the drinks holder. ‘Relax kid,’ the man said. He prodded a button on his dashboard and a CD tray rolled out – lined with cigarettes – and he plucked one out and lit it up. ‘I’d offer you one but let’s face it, anybody under the age of twenty-one looks like a complete tool with a cigarette in their mouth don’t they?’ he smiled non-threateningly. ‘I’ll agree. But only because you seem crazy.’ ‘Crazy?’ the man laughed as he jerked the car into gear and took a deep and hearty swig from the brown bottle. ‘What on earth makes you think I‘m crazy?’ The car burst into life and accelerated at breakneck pace, Zak could feel himself slowly get sucked back into the seat and could’ve sworn his fillings were getting sucked down his throat as well. ‘The name’s Tom Gray.’ the man smiled, driving one handed with the other around the bottle-neck, drumming his fingers. The loudness of the engine and speed of the vehicle seemed directly proportionate to the size of the smile on Tom Gray’s face. ‘So what brings you to this particular empty and desolate part of absolute nothing? The dames?’
